EV Charger
Overview
At Mojave Modern, we offer a Tesla Universal Level 2 EV charger that is also compatible with non-Tesla vehicles. It uses the property’s Southern California Edison off-peak time-of-use rate to save energy and reduce utility costs.

How to Charge Your Vehicle
The Tesla Universal Wall Connector supports both Tesla (NACS) and non-Tesla (J1772) vehicles.
For Tesla Vehicles
Park so the charge port is within reach of the charger cable.
Press the button on the Tesla charging handle to open your vehicle’s charge port (or open it from your vehicle screen/app).
Remove the Tesla connector from the holster.
Insert the connector into your vehicle until it clicks securely into place.
Confirm charging has started on your vehicle display or app.
For Non-Tesla Vehicles (Using the J1772 Adapter)
The J1772 adapter is built into the charger holster.
Locate the Tesla charging handle in the holster.
Press the button on the top of the Tesla handle to release the J1772 adapter attached to it.
The adapter will remain connected to the Tesla plug.
Insert the combined Tesla plug + J1772 adapter into your vehicle’s charging port until it clicks securely.
Confirm charging has started on your vehicle’s dashboard or app.
How to remove plug + adapter after charging:
Press your vehicle’s release button (or unlock via app)
Pull out the Tesla plug with the J1772 adapter attached
Return the Tesla plug and J1772 adapter to the wall connector, gently inserting them into the holster until you hear a click, confirming they are fully seated and securely locked in place.
Important Notes:
Always ensure the plug is fully secured in the charging port before walking away.
Do not force the plug into the charge port.
Securely return the adapter and/or plug to the holster after use.
Charging status is confirmed on your vehicle's dashboard or app, not the wall connector.
Cable Care
Please keep the charging cable off the ground at all times to prevent damage from desert critters. After use, neatly wrap the cable around the wall connector and ensure it is not resting on the concrete floor.
Safety Precautions
Ensure the charging area is clean and dry before connecting.
Do not attempt to modify the charging equipment or cables.
If you smell burning, notice smoke, or see sparks when charging stops, disconnect the charger and contact guest relations immediately.
Inspect the cable, plug, and adaptor for damage before each use.
Charging EVs in extreme heat (direct sunlight) can stress batteries; shaded or cooler environments are best when possible.
Helpful Tips
Plug in at 20% or less battery capacity: Charging from a lower state of charge is more efficient.
Unplug at 80%: For daily use, limit the charge to around 80% to promote battery longevity.
Charging during off-peak hours saves money and reduces strain on the grid.
Never force the charger connector into the vehicle port — if it doesn’t engage easily, realign and try again.
After plugging in, confirm the charging indicator (light or display) shows that charging has started.
If charging does not start within a few seconds, ensure the connector is fully inserted and re-try.
